What is a Tiny Toy Poodle or a Teacup Poodle?
Tiny Toy Poodle and the Teacup poodle are two fairly new classifications of poodles that are presently unofficial – but have become quite popular.
They have been making the news and their owners just love them dearly.
As of this writing, they have not yet been sanctioned by the AKC or other kennels.
The tiny toy poodle stands more than 8” but less than 9”. This particular poodle breed will weigh four pounds or less.
The teacup poodle is the smaller of these two breeds and stands at less than 8 inches in height.
He will weigh in at less than 4 pounds although some individuals say less than 3 1/2 pounds.
Both these poodles are darling poodles to own. Just like the larger, or standard, breed of poodle they are smart, energetic, and make super great pets.
Like all poodles, they are greatly enjoyed by their owners and beloved as pets.
Lately, a few celebrities have been seen publicly with their very small poodles.
The tiny toy is small enough to carry in a small woman’s purse, or a man’s coat pocket.
I have even seen a few snapshots, in magazines and the other trade rags, of a few of the “stars” carrying their little poodles in their pocketbooks when coming out of stores after shopping!
The same principles apply to caring for these poodles as for all other poodles. Because these poodles are very small, they are naturally more delicate.
They are fast learners and are a joy to have around the house.
It is not uncommon for them to live up to 15 years and a few have been reported to have lived to be over 17 years old.
